Hundred Schools of Thought

The Hundred Schools of Thought is Mandate Order's central statecraft idea: competing philosophical traditions inform retainers, policies and strategic paths rather than serving as a separate historical glossary.

ON THIS PAGE

Philosophy as a gameplay layer

Digital Sky presents the Hundred Schools as one of Mandate Order's defining systems. In the game's Warring States setting, scholars and competing traditions are connected to how a ruler reforms, governs and chooses strategic direction. The official descriptions place retainers and national policy beside that philosophical framework.

The useful gameplay question is not a general history lesson. It is how a tradition changes decisions inside the current build: which retainers represent it, which options it opens, what tradeoffs it creates and how it interacts with the city's economy, diplomacy or military.

What release verification must establish

  • The exact schools represented in the shipping interface
  • How retainers are recruited, categorized and connected to a tradition
  • Which policy or development choices are currently implemented
  • What costs, limits or opportunity tradeoffs accompany those choices
  • Whether a patch changes the practical identity of a school or path
